While in my dreams today I thought about my life and the Boston Marathon. The Boston Marathon is the oldest marathon.
Ive been thinking this race is a medifore for me. Our struggle to "win the race".
To even compete in the Boston marathon you first have to qualify. We qualify for this race because we choose to come to earth. We promised Father we would do our best to meet this challenge and finish strong. Runners train for years just to get a chance to qualify. I wonder, what our efforts to 'qualify' for our race?
One of the challenges in the Boston marathon comes between mile 20-21 - its called heartbreak hill. Heartbreak hill comes at the point in the race where you are dog tired and ready to give up. It is the last in a series of hills. Like all challenges it is the last great challenge before a series of decends to the finish line (a total of 26 miles). We are tried and challenged in this life to see if we will be true to our God. So many heartbreaks in this life but if we stay on course and keep putting one foot in front of the other we can make it.
As far as crowds go, the Boston marathon has over 500,000 people just watching and cheering people on. That is incredible! At one point the cheering is so loud runner have to cover their ears jsut to concentrate on the race. We too have over 500,000 people cheering us on and at times I think they are really loud too.
I am running my race, I prepared for it in the pre-existence. I have many who are cheering me on. I am reaching that series of hills and headed for heartbreak hill......I will make it up that hill and I see the finish line up ahead. The day is bright and beautiful, the weather is great and life is good!
See you in my dreams, Bosty
